About Me

Hi and welcome! My name is Dana File, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Indiana. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from McKendree University.

Over the years, I have gained experience working in a variety of settings, including private practice, outpatient mental health counseling, inpatient facilities, educational systems, and through the foster care system. I enjoy working with couples, families, and individuals. My approach is deeply informed by systems theory, which allows me to understand the significant impact that various systems have on the way people operate and relate to one another.

I consider it a privilege to join people on their personal journeys and help them take ownership of their lives. Searching for the right therapist can be a challenging process, filled with many questions and decisions. Each therapist brings a unique blend of educational background, professional experience, and personal insight to their practice. Thank you for being here.

During my free time, I am a professional bowler and compete in tournaments across the country. When I’m not practicing at the bowling center or traveling for tournaments, I spend time with my husband and our son. We love exploring new destinations as well as revisiting old favorites. I also have a passion for photography, playing tennis, watching sports (Go Cubs! Go Blues! Go Fever! Go Pacers!), shopping, and bird watching, to name a few. I’m always open to trying new hobbies, so feel free to share what you enjoy—I might just end up loving it, too!
