COUPLES COUNSELING

I offer pre-marital counseling as well as marital counseling. I graduated from the Emotionally Focused Therapy Externship, therefore I primarily utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in my sessions to assist my couples with improving their relationships (however, I’m a believer that there isn’t a “one size fits all approach” and I modify my work with my couples as needed). EFT is a modality of therapy that is based on the belief that our emotions are connected to our needs, which are activated and worked through in therapy in order to improve the relationship. My belief is that we often seek secure attachment through our relationships with others, especially significant other relationships, and being able to identify and work through these needs can lead to increased relationship satisfaction.

FAMILY COUNSELING

I work with families from all walks of life (are you thinking what I’m thinking about how fun it would be to work with these cute little baby lions)? I utilize an eclectic approach as I feel that everyone has different needs and needs can change as people progress through counseling. My belief is that each family has their own culture that has been built over time and it is important that I learn each family’s culture and work within it to assist everyone to the best of my ability. Contrary to what most people believe, family counseling isn’t limited only to the parent/child dynamic - it is meant for any and all family members who are experiencing conflict and emotional discord.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Individual counseling can be a great way for you to work through unresolved childhood conflicts, gain a better understanding of the impact that your actions/choices have on your life as well as your interpersonal relationships and gain insight and awareness into barriers of living a more productive life, to name a few of the benefits of individual counseling. Some of the issues I treat are sports performance issues, depression, anxiety, difficulties with life transitions, self esteem, stress, trauma and grief. I work with adolescents ages 13 and up as well as adults.
